**Description Purpose**Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the CAO will be primarily responsible for accounting operations: financial close process, financial reporting, SEC filings, project accounting and revenue recognition, cash and AR (Accounts Receivable) management, payroll, internal controls, M transaction accounting, and audit and tax oversight and support.**Key Responsibilities Leadership and Direction**+ Recruit, manage, oversee, mentor, and develop a best-in-class accounting department.+ Instill a positive culture within the accounting team.+ Sets standards of excellence and make significant improvements to processes, efficiencies, technology, and talent management.**At the Operational and Company Level?**+ Manages, provides leadership and oversight for all essential accounting functions, and is willing to "roll-up sleeves" and be hands-on.+ Identifies accounting issues and then proactively researches and publishes technical accounting positions that the Company can review with its external auditors.+ Act as liaison to outside auditors.+ Represent the accounting department at board meetings.**Do the Work??**+ Prepare, manage, and present monthly reports.+ Analyze accounts and recommend improvements to reduce costs and increase profits.+ Day-to-day management of banking relationships including monitoring and reporting on covenant compliance.+ Oversight and management of the invoicing and collection functions.+ Oversight for the annual financial audit and tax package with external auditors and tax accountants.+ Examines financial statements and ensures they are accurate and free of errors.+ Stay abreast of industry changes and current tax / accounting laws.+ Ensures all financial data adheres to current tax laws and regulations.**Success Metrics** ?+ Manage and maintain confidential information of the Company.+ Drive the profitability and growth of the firm.+ Be self-reliant and able to operate independently with limited direction.+ Be able to see the big picture and take all aspects of an issue into account as decisions are made.+ Be able to place more emphasis on looking through the windshield than on gazing in the rear-view mirror.+ Be succinct in both verbal and written communications.+ Be results oriented, able to motivate, holding staff accountable.+ Possess excellent financial and analytical abilities.**Minimum?Requirements?** ?+ BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field+ CPA required+ Big four public accounting and internal audit experience required.+ Prior tenure in a senior level position in a public company (Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Financial Officer), including experience with SEC reporting and compliance.+ Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years of meaningful management/leadership experience.+ Thorough knowledge of public company accounting principles and procedures.+ Experience with GAAP technical accounting research and new accounting standard implementation.+ Experience in internal control design and financial process optimization; prior Sarbanes-Oxley implementation preferred.+ Experience with acquisition and integration work and ability to cross-collaborate with various departments within the organization.+ Nimble mindset with ability to work successfully in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.+ Sharp, forward-thinking problem solver with high standards of excellence.+ A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaboration.+ Ability to drive and influence change in a respectful manner with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.+ Advanced knowledge of professional accounting software.+ Experience in talent development (hiring, training, and mentoring).+ A proven record track record of innovation, leadership, and creativity.+ Outstanding written and oral communication skills.+ Ability to collaborate and facilitate agreement.**Essential Functions?**+ Indoor work+ Operate computer+ Handling/Fingering+ Lift/Carry 11-20 lbs.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
