We are looking for a coach with the skills needed to successfully develop student athletes and understand that academics come first.QualificationsYou have at least one to two years of experience in coachingCoaching experience in Volleyball preferredCPR Certification - RequiredFirst Aid Training - RequiredCoaching Certification - PreferredKey ResponsibilitiesBuild the program from the ground up including skills based learning, character development, promote sportsmanship Promote the team and assist with recruiting student of student athletesCreate and plan practice and game schedulesCoach the team and individuals to help them development their individual skills and teamwork Attend all scheduled events - including practice, games, banquets, coaches meeting, etcCommunicate clearly and consistently with familiesCompensationContracted and Part Time Position Stipend is based on experience and scope but would range between 2,000 to 5,000 Girls Global Academy, an all girls public charter school located in Washington, DC seeks a part-time Head Varsity Basketball coach beginning the end of November 2021.Specific qualifications include significant basketball coaching experience and availability from 2:30 6:30 PM on weekdays. Gamedays sometimes extend past 6:30 PM, and there are occasional Saturday commitments. This part-time coaching position is stipended and begins in late November and ends in mid February or at the conclusion of the basketball season with regards to postseason competition. Qualified candidates will also possess intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, commitment to ongoing professional development, openness to others ideas, eagerness to extend themselves for others, and a sense of humor.The Head Women's Varsity Basketball coach will also provides leadership, ownership, and guidance for players to include: sportsmanship, positive team building and player developmentKey Responsibilities:Reports directly to the Athletic Director Guide the personal development of each student-athlete on the roster.Submits forms to the Director of Athletics (eg eligibility rosters, players', addresses, etc.) to meet requirements by the Public Charter School Athletic Association and meets deadlines outlined for the season Organize, communicate, and execute daily practice plans.Prepare and condition athletes for preseason, try-outs, regular season, and postseason Maintain established uniform and equipment inventories.Understand rules and regulations of governing high school bodiesLead game day and practice equipment preparations, logistics for team, set up, and breakdown Coordinate with Athletic Director to create social media contentPerform other duties as assigned.Minimum of 2 years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified.Prior coaching experience; head coaching experience preferred..Strong background in teaching the fundamentals of cross country.Willingness to attend professional development workshops.Instructs participants on personal hygiene and safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and /or trainer immediately.Establishes and maintains procedures of communication with athletes, families, and GGA community Ensures availability of first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.Inspects facilities, equipment, and environmental conditions to ensure the safety of participants.Follows School Activity Funds Manual and local school policies involving financial transactions.Follows all guidances per the CDC, District of Columbia, PCSAA, and GGA on all COVID procedures and protocols.
