A successful candidate for this position will support analyses and testing efforts for the US Navy in Dahlgren, Virginia. Come work in an exciting environment offering the opportunity to provide operational impact while expanding or continuing partnership with Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).Responsibilities* Assists with analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of complex software application programs in support of distinct product hardware or technical service lines of business.* Assists with designing specifications for complex software programming applications and/or assists with the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards. * Assists with aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards. * Assists with development of architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications. * Participates in the analysis and development of test plans. Assists with testing assigned components and units, provides test results and recommends corrections. * Researches and develops prospective applications and products and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies. * Assists in the writing and/or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals. * Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math plus at least one year of directly related experience in: Software development/software engineering, implementing engineering criteria and developing software and tools to operate in real-world environments Preparing technical documents, which include software test plans/reports and analytical evaluation of software performance in realistic operational environments and scenarios and in conducting software testing at multiple levels (unit, integration, system), performing analyses to predict and quantify software constraints, and defining/designing corrective measures Attention to detail and ability to communicate software concepts effectively. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development Experience with software development tools and programming languages. US Citizenship required.
