Position Summary: The Accounts Receivable/Medicaid Specialist is responsible for all functions required to bill accurate and timely patient claims. In addition, this position applies payments in the billing system, reconciles accounts, and follows up on collection of all past due accounts. Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience working with healthcare patient accounting. (Medicare/Medicaid) Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.Demonstrated expertise in computer skills, including knowledge of MS Excel and Word.Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with attention to details, accuracy, and deadlines.Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for preparing electronic and manual billings. This includes, but is not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurances, and self-pay patients.Review statements, census changes, and process refunds.Analyzes patient billing records for completeness and accuracy and obtain additional information and clarification as necessary.Responsible for timely follow-up and collection of patient receivables.Verifies primary and secondary insurance eligibility and benefits in a timely manner.Responsible for research and resolution of untimely and denied payments.Submit quarterly Medicaid credit balance report.Assist in processing Maryland Medicaid applications.Assist with processing Maryland Medicaid redeterminations.Communicates empathetically and clearly with payors, patients, and their families in billing matters. Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience working with healthcare patient accounting. (Medicare/Medicaid)
