GasBuddy is a place that empowers employees to grow, build, and thrive.We're looking for a Senior DevOps Developer to join our team who will be responsible for building and maintaining cutting edge infrastructure for cloud-native services that support the GasBuddy app. As a Senior DevOps Developer at GasBuddy, you will be working with modern platforms and continuously improving our engineering culture. This role is responsible for supporting ongoing software operations that enable business critical functions.In this role, you will also be collaborating across the company to coordinate necessary infrastructure, system administration, networking, database, and information security changes. We're looking for an individual who can take initiative and make business-critical infrastructure decisions in time sensitive situations. In addition to technical skills, our ideal candidate is able to communicate clearly and express ideas in verbal discussion, written communication, technical documentation, and architectural reviews. What You'll Do Share responsibility for the health, scalability, and availability of our cloud servicesAutomate deployment of AWS infrastructure and servicesSelect, architect, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, and reportingEnsure cloud architecture meets scalability, availability, and cost requirementsMentor team members on good operational practicesWork collaboratively with our Product, Development, and Data teamsRespond to alerts and other system monitoring tools as final escalation point of support Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years experience managing cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, including (but not limited to) personal side projects, school projects, and professional products Experience using several of the following is a plus:Continuous Integration Tools (eg Jenkins, Wercker, Github CI)Configuration Management Tools (eg Ansible, Packer)Containerization Tools (eg Docker, Kubernetes)Infrastructure Automation Tools (eg CloudFormation, Terraform)Monitoring and Alerting Tools (eg Prometheus, Grafana, EFK stack, Jaeger)Content Distribution Frameworks (eg CloudFront, CloudFlare)Excellent troubleshooting skills, specifically within website, application servers, network, and databasesExperience with setting up databases and message brokering systems (Postgres, DynamoDB, Spark, Storm, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc.)Recommend and implement best practices for application support and security in production environmentsKnowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available serviceSolid networking knowledge and scripting skills (eg Python, Shell, Go)Prior vendor management experience for tools and systems related to infrastructureDisaster Recovery and Business Continuity experienceFamiliarity with cloud proxy and service mesh framework (Ambassador, Envoy, HAProxy, Istio) About GasBuddy:For budget-minded drivers, GasBuddy is the travel and navigation app that is used by more North American drivers to save money on gas than any other.
