What You Will Do:Participates in the planning process: Plans, organizes, and promotes department mission, vision, values, and culture. Participates actively in the development and execution of goals within the context of the plan. Reviews work process methodologies and make recommendations for improvement and efficiency as requested and identified.Develops and maintains job descriptions. Evaluates performance and initiates or approves personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions, corrective action, and career/practice development incentives. Encourages career/practice development through such strategies as in-service education and outside conferences.Oversees department fiscal matters: in conjunction with the Director develops and manages the departmental operating budget and ensures that the department operates within allocated funds. Prepares and administers the department operating budget in coordination with Finance. A. Provides support for budget requests, makes recommendations for changes, and participates in the presentation and approval process with UMMC management.B. Prepares monthly variance EPIC reports, financial reports and monitors department performance to budget. Reviews appropriateness of departmental expenditures. C. Provides departmental oversight of business practices and procedures. Maintains department reports and statistics for administrative and planning purposes. Functions as the primary liaison between Finance and the Program Director on daily activities and issue resolution.E. Functions as the secondary liaison with accounts payable to ensure accurate and prompt receipt of invoiced items into the hospital's materials management systemH. Function as the primary liaison with UMMC leadership regarding EPIC and IT and will educate transplant staff in this regard.4. Collaborates with the clinical manager on the review, selection and approval of vendor contracts and agreements. Ensures compliance with supply chain requirements.5. Interacts with medical and nursing staffs and patients regarding financial coordination needed in order to obtain approval for organ transplantation6. Oversees payroll functions to ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and budgetary approvals. Working through subordinate supervisory and management staff, ensures optimum functioning of Kronos Payroll and Leave System.7. Staffing: Assumes administrative responsibility for the staffing under finance and administrative part of the program: registration/ scheduling and front desk, etc. Oversees daily activities of the Scheduler and the Lead the Scheduler to ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness, efficiency, and effectiveness of the scheduling function. Ensures appropriate assignments and cross training. Ensure coordination with Orientation, Training, and Staff Development function and with payroll and budget and position control functions8. Attends, participates in and/or coordinates various departmental meetings and committees as required by the Director. Attends and participates in various in-service, educational, and management training programs for ongoing professional growth and development.What You Need to Be Successful:Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Nursing, Business Administration or a related discipline is required. Master's degree with management coursework preferred. Incumbents are expected to matriculate in an accredited graduate program within one year of their employment and have five years to complete the degree. Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance or related health care administration with responsibility for budget management, operations, and staff management, or equivalent, is required.
