The Community Ambassador, as part of the OMH Health Literacy Grant, will provide individual and group education opportunities to increase COVID-19 vaccine confidence and encourage vaccination. The Ambassador will interact daily with Baltimore City children and youth, their parents/caregivers, and health care providers to increase COVID-19 vaccinations. Through general literacy in their assigned community, education is provided to improve residents' ability to make their own informed health-related decisions, especially regarding the COVID-19 vaccine when it is offered to them. They will work to ensure that the project reaches its community engagement goals as outlined in the BMS Scope of Work for the OMH Health Literacy Initiative.Communication skills are required outside of the work group to facilitate work groups, resolve conflict, persuade, or negotiate. External communications involve provision of a service, representing the organization at public meetings and ability to deal with sensitive situations/information.Schedule/Hours:Mon-Fri 8:00-4:3 PMEssential functions: Ambassadors will be trained by IVAC for their respective populations.Ambassador will be charged with connecting with target population through BMS school-based and community settings. Individual will coordinate such referrals as vaccine information and appointments, mental health services, and any other COVID-19 related services.Consistently and independently follows established safety and infection control proceduresComplies with the standards of conduct and Corporate Responsibility Program and seeks guidance when in doubt.Maintains documentation as outlined in grant-requirements.Reports weekly to supervisor and will communicate any difficulties arising in the field via text message to assure real-time feedback.High School Diploma or equivalency2 years of experience working with community residents on health-related topicsCurrent Employees Must Apply Through Their Kronos Employee AccountBaltimore Medical System (BMS) is an innovative, Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to improving the health and wellness of medically underserved communities in the Greater Baltimore area.
