Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and several counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. We seek a Community Dietitian to provide nutrition counseling and on-going follow-up to people living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses. Duties include utilizing Nutrition Care Process standards to provide individualized nutrition counseling to clients via telephone and home visits; assisting with development and distribution of client nutrition education materials; providing cooking classes and group nutrition education to clients and other community members; assisting with menu planning and nutrient analysis; and coordinating quality control measures. The successful candidate must have Registered Dietitian licensure with a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience. Must be self-motivated, collaborative, and possesses good time management skills. Eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia and Maryland, and a valid driver's license, are required. Additional requirements include knowledge of evidence-based nutrition, knowledge of oncology and HIV medical nutrition therapy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, skill in providing nutrition counseling via telephone and in person, strong presentation skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Spanish language skills a plus. Must be willing to in a traditional office environment (telework not permitted).
