Summary

This position is for a DIRECTOR OF PYSCOLOGICAL HEALTH (SOCIAL WORKER) (TITLE 5), PD# PDT59128P1and is part of the 113th Wing, National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is: to provide operational leadership consultation, direct client services, community capacity building, preventive, remedial, and support services aimed at improving and sustaining the psychological health of Air National Guard (ANG) military members and their families.

Responsibilities

As an DIRECTOR OF PYSCOLOGICAL HEALTH (SOCIAL WORKER) (TITLE 5), GS-0185-12, you will perform but are not limited to:
Coordinate with the National Guard community serving military and non-military agencies to promote and achieve timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish and maintain an extensive array of resources, associations, and community partnerships. Participates in community activities to incorporate complex strategies that enhance community strengths, reduces broad-based community needs, implements community problem solving methods, and forges community connections so as to promote psychologically healthy lifestyles. Ensures that curriculums and community intervention initiatives for each prevention program are research-based and supported by the literature. Participates in relevant committee meetings in an effort to provide input and obtain information related to psychological health issues. Coordinates substantial findings and possible effects of outreach efforts with the State Surgeon and key leaders to ensure they remain current on issues related to the program. Liaison between the military and non-military community agencies, including medical agencies, schools, shelters, child care, and family support centers providing access to services that can improve and/or sustain the psychological health of National Guardsmen and families. Represents the community outreach and prevention initiatives and programs professionally and appropriately. Coordinates findings and possible effects with the State Surgeon in an effective and timely manner.

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Selective Placement Factor: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with local MDG policies. Must be obtained with 6 months of onboarding.
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve "after hours" care or work in addition to regular duty hours.
  • A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired.

Generalized Experience for GS-12 Positions : Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources is mandatory.

Specialized Experience for GS-12 Positions: Must have Twenty-four (24) months of experience in clinical social work assignments. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.

Professional Social Work Licensure Requirements: For the GS-12, applicants must have professional unrestricted state licensure. For award and retention of cited military skills, officers must possess valid and current licenses issued by a U.S. jurisdiction at a level allowing independent clinical social work practice.

Education

Master's in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is highly desired.

Must have at least Twenty-four (24) months post-MSW experience that may have included conducting individual and group psychotherapy, and marriage and family counseling; organizing, managing, and administering adult, child and family prevention and outreach services; interviewing clients to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, providing professional assistance, and determining appropriate referral services/opinions; and in planning and implementing professional community organizational strategies and initiatives; formulating of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and marketing of developed programs.

Possession of an active (characterized by present activity, participation, practice, or use); current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed); valid; and unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands, which allows practice without supervision. Include proof with application.
