Database Administrator responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: A cents € cents Establishes and maintains database performance standards; monitors system usage; analyzes database performance and performs system optimization tasks to maintain data availability and ensure system responsiveness to user queries. A cents € cents Devises and maintains data security and integrity standards; implements security access levels in accordance with management specifications. A cents € cents Diagnoses and resolves database system performance problems. A cents € cents Archive data; maintains archival and active records; performs data back-up and recovery. A cents € cents Evaluates system and user needs and makes recommendations for increased system capacity. A cents € cents Plan and implement database conversion projects and the migration and upgrade of databases to new versions and servers. A cents € cents Monitors network traffic and communications usage patterns; configures or modifies network configuration to meet system demands and capacity planning needs. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities A cents € cents Knowledge of principles and practices of database development, management, warehousing and administration. A cents € cents Knowledge of hierarchical and relational database management system software programming languages. A cents € cents Knowledge of operating system software. A cents € cents Knowledge of database security practices to monitor, control and evaluate user access, logons, permissions and related variables. A cents € cents Knowledge of methods for ensuring, protecting and resolving problems involving the security of information systems. A cents € cents Knowledge of archival, back-up and recovery methods. A cents € cents Skill in developing database queries and generating reports. A cents € cents Ability to interview users and extract pertinent information for development of database query system and report generation, database model design and upgrades. A cents € cents Ability to implement, control and evaluate database management systems. A cents € cents Ability to prepare user documentation and train users in database capabilities and procedures for accessing data. A cents € cents Ability to analyze, apply logic and solve technology problems. A cents € cents Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, management, technical co-workers and support specialists, and system users. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information systems, computer science or a related field and two years of experience in database management including performance optimization and troubleshooting, and implementing, maintaining and controlling hierarchical or relational database management systems. Equivalencies An equivalent combination of education and experience.
