Retail and Dining Hall Food Services Staff, Full-Time & Part-Time
Job Description Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for Retail and Dining Hall Food Service Workers. This position prepares, presents, and serves food as needed. There may be some cash/credit card handling involved in this position. Positions involved that fall under this job title include but are not limited to staff in the Deli, Pizza Station, Martha's Kitchen (burgers, fries, chicken, etc.), general serving/food preparation. Day and evening shifts are needed and available. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prep work including, washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service. Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor. Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator while maintaining all safety standards Responsible for using commercial and non-commercial kitchen equipment, which include slicers, mixers, steamers, ovens, stoves, kettles and other equipment needed to complete tasks Properly stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment Assists with catering and other special events in preparation, service and clean up Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control Interacts with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards, and inventory and cash control procedures Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements Carefully enters all sales into the cash register to ensure that all purchases are accurately recorded. Makes change, accepts declining balance cards, and other acceptable forms of payment, and issues receipts to customers. Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards Assist with daily and weekly cleaning of the dining service areas of operation so that it meets operating standards. Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess basic math ability and the ability to multi-task. Schedule may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
