SCADA/Automation Operator (Technician) Work Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD Employment Type: Full Time - Hourly City Light & Power, Inc. has built a reputation as an innovative, reliable and responsive private utility development leader in the US. We are seeking qualified candidates with 2+ years of Electrical Utility Industry experience related to the SCADA management, up-keep, and maintenance. Experience with design, programming, installation, commissioning, updates, maintenance, and operations of utility (electric) scale SCADA and automation systems is required for this position. Key Duties and responsibilities: Maintain and upkeep utility scale SCADA system including master SCADA servers, HMI screens, communication networks, and field devices in day-today basis. Troubleshoot SCADA hardware, software, HMI, computers/workstations, programming, subnets, routers, ethernet switches, or other communications issues and engage appropriate support team to get them fixed in timely manner. Update basic programming and configurations of digital automation controllers, PLCs, communication processors, and managed Ethernet switches for SCADA network when new systems are added or removed. Monitor SCADA alarms and provide list of action items to operators. Troubleshoot distribution automation system mis-operations with system operators and engage with SCADA engineers to identify root cause. Assist operators when they need help with SCADA operations such as switching, status monitoring, and outage troubleshooting. Provide SCADA hands-on training to operators as needed. Monitor and control various user access to the SCADA system. Monitor and maintain network monitoring systems and take immediate remediation actions when/if malicious activities are detected. Assist SCADA engineers with system updates, testing, and documentation. Maintain and monitor data historian functions, power quality trends, and any other metering trends available and immediately engage engineers when abnormal conditions are present. Download and provide protective relay event reports and SERs to engineers for fault root cause analysis. Help IT support team during annual server OS updates and patching. Enforce and maintain CLP cybersecurity policies and procedures related to SCADA system at all time. Report any violations or incidents to Engineering Supervisor and Installation Manager. Keep up-to-date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement/renewal and new installations related to SCADA system. Maintain and update SCADA, automation, and communications record drawings and documentations. Skills and Qualifications: Associate degree in engineering technology from accredited university with emphasis in automation and/or communication systems. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree is preferred. 2+ years working experience in electrical utility SCADA and distribution automations as a SCADA Technician. Familiar with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution system. Working knowledge of power system components. Experienced in blueprints, schematics, Onelines, and other system drawings. Intermediate knowledge of SCADA communications network, topology, and protocols. Familiar with radio communication networks. Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills. Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish. Work Authorization and Clearance: You must be a US citizen. Military Base Security Clearance is required for this position. Valid driver's license and ability to travel required.
