JSSA, a community-based non-profit, has a rapidly growing accredited Hospice program within a larger health and social wellness agency. For more than 30 years, we are the hospice in the community to turn to for exceptional end-of-life care that supports dignity and comfort for individuals, provides peace of mind to families, and honors cultural traditions and customs. Based on overall CMS quality data, JSSA hospice is currently the highest rated hospice in Montgomery County, Maryland. We have an opening for a full-time Medical Director. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Hospice Medical Director is responsible for the overall leadership, quality, and management of the medical components of Hospice at JSSA. Serving as a member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the Medical Director provides clinical guidance and support to the members of the IDT assuring that patients and families receive the highest quality end of life care. Provides education to community physicians and others engaged in the care of terminally ill patients on the services provided by the hospice program. The Medical Director will promote the growth of Hospice and other programs within the Agency through active participation in strategic growth initiatives, physician leadership inside and outside of JSSA, and innovative growth through technology and use of data-driven decision making. Education and Experience: MD or DO degree. Minimum of 4 years experience in a physician leadership role. Minimum of 4 years of experience caring for patients at the end-of-life demonstrating experience in the principles of medical and psychosocial management in hospice care Required Licensure and Certification: Unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland. DEA certification Primary Board Certification BC/BE for Secondary Certification in a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine by one of the 9 American Board of Medical Specialty (ABMS) Boards or by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) that offer certification in that primary field as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
