The Home Health Aide assists recreation therapists with planning, organizing and providing therapeutic recreational and social activities, in person and using virtual platforms such as Zoom. Provides assistance with activities of daily living, personal care such as bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, oral hygiene, nail care, transferring and walking for both males and females, taking vital signs, and using personal protective equipment (PPE). Assists in providing a quality therapeutic recreation program for a specialized population(s) of individuals, 18 and older, with a variety of diagnoses and multiple disabilities in the Adult Day Health Care Center (ADHC). Helps with the nutrition program by maintaining statistics, ordering meals, setting up and serving food.

Note: Multiple positions may be filled from this job announcement. These are Non-Merit G-Status temporary positions. Cannot exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Appointees are not eligible for benefits and do not earn paid leave or holiday pay.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a high school diploma or a GED.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's License

First Aid (Required within 12 months)

AED-Required within 60 days

CPR -Required within 60 days

Limited Food Handlers Certification-Required within 1 year

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check, a driving records check, and a sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidates will have experience working with older adults with multiple chronic conditions including dementia. Experience in leading group activities in person and using virtual platform; knowledge using the internet to conduct searches to assist in planning recreational activities. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee is required to walk, stand for long periods of time (i.e. 1 to 2 hours), bend, sit, kneel, reach, climb stairs and participate in recreational therapy. Must be able to exchange accurate information with other verbally and in writing. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to drive a vehicle. Incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer. Ability to assist with client transfers from sitting to standing and standing to sitting and lift up to 50 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
