Sr. Manager, Technology (Cloud & Connectivity)

We are looking to bring on a Senior Manager to support organizational strategy and business operations for our rapidly growing Cloud Enablement team of ~90 associates. The Cloud Enablement mission is to help our entire technology organization continue its technology transformation by adopting and innovating on the latest the cloud has to offer. We guide Capital One's strategic approach to cloud native architecture, cloud service adoption and lifecycle management, and cost-aware technology strategy. We provide the tools necessary to enable our teams to be successful on the cloud, and oversee our core topology -- services, network topology, account structure, and more. This team leads a big, bold, and challenging technology push at the heart of Capital One's overall strategy.

Capital One is the first major financial services company, and one of only a few large enterprises, to leverage the Public Cloud as a primary infrastructure provider. This is an exciting opportunity to work with top technology talent and live at the heart of what it takes to be successful on the public cloud in a security and compliance-minded organization.

Responsibilities:

This role reports to the Chief of Staff for Cloud & Connectivity, and is part of the broader Cloud & Productivity Engineering top of house team within Capital One's technology group. The successful candidate will partner directly with the Vice President of Cloud Enablement, the Cloud Enablement leadership team, and various stakeholders across Cloud & Productivity Engineering and our horizontal partner teams to execute the organizational strategy.

They will provide thought leadership and serve as a central point of coordination for organization level efforts in the following areas: supporting the definition and articulation of the strategy, managing critical business operations, engaging divisional and horizontal partners, and driving associate experience and team culture. The role will also include opportunities to contribute to efforts beyond Cloud Enablement, with a portion of time allocated to broader Cloud & Connectivity and/or Cloud & Productivity Engineering initiatives. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Partner closely with the VP of Cloud Enablement and the Leadership Team; develop, build and manage strategic focus and priorities
  • Facilitate the creation of presentations that articulate the organizational strategy to key internal and external stakeholders; ensure alignment with CPE and C&C strategic messaging
  • Partner closely with Portfolio team to facilitate OKR planning, as well as maintain and leverage our OKR management system
  • Apply sound inquiry and analysis to make recommendations and decisions, generate and drive practical solutions to solve existing problems and prevent future problems, and balance facts, priorities, constraints with common sense, intuition, and experience.
  • Manage associate experience across multiple vectors for a hybrid (in person/remote) team that is geographically dispersed across several major geographies.
  • Serve as a culture carrier for the organization, modeling the right behaviors for the team and helping to create a shared sense of purpose, leadership and accountability
  • Lead and manage multiple activities related to our workforce strategy, associate recruiting, headcount management, etc; contribute to people strategy at various levels - Cloud Enablement, Cloud & Connectivity, and Cloud & Productivity Engineering.
  • Build relationships cross-functionally with Finance, Risk, Cyber, HR, Supplier Management, Communications, and divisional business partners, as well as internal CPE stakeholders and enabling TOH teams, to drive outcomes
  • Continuously assess and and implement improvements to engagement model with key partners and recurring business processes, as relevant
  • Develop, socialize, and execute various communications plans for internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with Cloud Enablement administrative lead to define and coordinate organizational rhythms and routines; responsible for agenda planning and facilitation of team meetings and events (leadership, all hands, etc.)
  • Deliver on special projects or ad-hoc responsibilities for Cloud & Connectivity, Cloud & Productivity Engineering, or Cloud Enablement, as needed
  • Support timely completion of deliverables, including but not limited to slide presentations, spreadsheet data models, and post-meeting follow up to define actions and accountability
