Summary

This position is located in GAO, ISTS, Information Systems Security Group (ISSG). It establishes GAO policy and guidance on IT security; assesses information systems and technology for security capabilities; monitors IT security risks, controls, and effectiveness; and fosters agency-wide security awareness. ISSG ensures that sensitive data residing in GAO's information systems is available and protected as necessary and that its integrity is maintained.

Responsibilities

As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC), PT-2210-II your typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Serves as a liaison providing information and feedback on the agency efforts to comply with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance and internal Performance and Accountability reporting requirements.
  • Provides consultant support regarding INFOSEC requirements are satisfied throughout the fielding and implementation stages of new systems.
  • Coordinates, implements and manages security components in the Microsoft M365 and Azure environment, including implementing and managing identity and access; threat protection; and manager governance and compliance features in Microsoft 365.
  • Conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews and certifies appropriate implementation of security configurations and processes for managing cloud services in both Amazon and Microsoft cloud offerings.
  • Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access.
  • Reviews and assesses systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the BAND II level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band or level equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal Service, or comparable private/public sector experience which has equipped the applicant with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing daily security operations management and security compliance management over a cloud processing environment to develop methods, approaches, and procedures to enhance security measures; performing security administration tasks including, implementing new information and security hardware and software technologies; resolving security issues utilizing monitoring capabilities; collaborate on security incident response; and supporting customer needs based upon configuration standards, security implementation requirements, and system security polices supporting this processing environment.

In addition tot he specialized experience listed above this position requires incumbent to possess Cloud security certification supporting Microsoft or Amazon Cloud (i.e. Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate and or AWS Certified Security - Specialty). You MUST submit a copy of your certification with your application package or you will be rated ineligible.
