Summary

The Professional Learning and Outreach Initiatives Office (PLOI) of the Center for Learning, Literacy & Engagement (CLLE) in the Office of the Librarian is seeking a Program Support Assistant. The Center is responsible for producing dynamic experiences that connect public audiences with the unparalleled collections and expertise of the Library. PLOI's work informs, inspires, and engages the Library's nationwide Connectors- educators, librarians, early researchers, and literacy champions.

Responsibilities

The incumbent in this position will provide support for the Literacy Awards Program. The incumbent performs administrative activities which are related to the coordination of the awards program, such as office operations, meeting logistics, and other administrative tasks. The incumbent ensures that the work performed is completed in the most efficient and effective manner and follows all of the proper Library of Congress Regulations and Directives. The incumbent also works with all staff members within PLOI and ensures that the work performed is accurate and presented in a timely manner.

Performs duties in a number of administrative functional areas, such as general office management and personnel administration; completes assignments involving processing various paperwork; performs day-to-day duties which include making calendar updates and scheduling activities based on requests; drafts written documents and provides support assistance to staff; receives and directs visitors when warranted; answers phones as well as provides responses to questions related to the Literacy Awards Program; prepares presentations and other documents for PLOI management; and utilizes office automation to perform duties and responsibilities related to the position.

Assists with analytical reviews and assessments for better program management; makes arrangements for program events and activities; prepares flyers for programs; works with Program Specialists in the coordination of special events related to programs; provides recommendations pertaining to program support functions; assists with the coordination of related programs; makes decisions under general guidelines specific to program best practices; and compiles information specific to programs.

Serves as a liaison collaborating with individuals both internal and external to PLOI and the Library; provides information to those in need who conduct inquiries; assists with contacting individuals pertaining to the Literacy Awards Program and ensures that accurate information is communicated in both verbal and written form; ensures that all individuals who contact PLOI are serviced in the most timely and professional manner by providing excellent customer service and meeting the needs of internal and external clients; and working collaboratively with management to ensure that all client needs are addressed.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.

The incumbent of this position will work a flextime work schedule.

This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.

Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.

This position is not eligible for permanent remote telework.
