Leidos' SDA Operation, in conjunction with the TSA, also performs on-call, onsite installation servicing of X- Ray Detection Equipment using leading edge technology to ensure the safety of our clients, customer and passengers. The Security Detection and Automation Operation is comprised of four divisions to align with our customers' missions and needs: Checkpoint Hold Baggage Ports & Borders General Automation The Civil Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a SYSTEM INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN - Airport Checked Baggage X-Ray Screening Systems, to work at airports globally. This is an exciting position where you can use your experience installing and upgrading Explosive Detection Systems (X-Ray), Checkpoint screening systems, and other computer networked screening systems for Homeland Security and other governments. Our mission is to travel weekly to the customer site (generally an airport) and perform equipment integration and installation with Baggage Handling Systems, or interconnect between our own Leidos systems. You must be team oriented and flexible, and actively seek to share information and assist with peers. Expect 100% weekly travel; primarily domestic, future international travel can be expected. Most weekends are off at home, but can be sent to customer site for two weeks at a time with 3-4 days off. Must be flexible to work days and nights. Possesses excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrates strong electronic repair troubleshooting methodology and maintains an expert technical level of product knowledge after training. Be ethical and professional, act with integrity. Primary Responsibilities Install, network, integrate, test, and repair checked baggage X-ray systems at airports nationwide for TSA, or other customers located worldwide. Integrate with conveyor systems and electrical connections on industrial material handling equipment. Installs, repairs and modifies other equipment in the field; provides customer training as directed. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as X-Ray screening equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or factory locations. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field changes. May be called upon to work on equipment that has little or no documentation or training. Meets weekly project installation goals within required deadlines. Documents all inspections, maintenance, repair work and submits paperwork in a timely basis. Ensures that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Assesses product/equipment performance based on experience and support data; recommends modifications or improvements to equipment, documentation and operating processes. Seeks to provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required. Maintains clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. Willing to work on challenging international projects for short durations. Work well with peers from various backgrounds to build effective work relationships. Basic Qualifications AS degree, graduate of technical school, or military training in electronics technology field. 2+ years' experience as electronics technician in installation, maintenance, or field service environments. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings. Ability to use electronic test equipment such as multi-meters. Current US Citizen with valid US Passport in hand by hire date. Must have a valid US Driver's License with Real ID. Must pass criminal background check, drug test and extensive credit check. Physically able to get in narrow spaces, climb ladders / stairs, and carry 50 lbs. without assistance. Candidates may be located anywhere within CONUS as weekly travel is required. Preferred Qualifications Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs Working knowledge of x-ray and/or CT technologies PLC experience Computer Networking experience Linux experience Previous field electrical or electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience Software installation and configuration for electrical/mechanical equipment. Previous hands on project management is a plus. Work Environment: Work environment is typically considered to be off-site, wherever the customer of concern is located. Service will typically be rendered at airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships or other locations as required. Typical travel requirement is up to 100%.
