SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations. #CJ #IN123ResponsibilitiesProvide subject matter expertise (SME) support to the DTRA RD Nuclear Technologies Department within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) with emphasis on nuclear weapons effects and modeling of those effects. Serves as a technical/scientific resource on projects, analyzing problems and applying theoretical techniques to develop solutions Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as modeling and simulation, code development, detection, protection, early warning, etc. Review proposals, technical reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies and statements of work to ensure technical validity and evaluate current and emerging nuclear weapons technologies. Assist senior leadership with decision making analysis. Evaluate all project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of nuclear research and development. Understanding capability gaps and assisting in setting project and product-level strategy and priorities, ensuring portfolios are responsive and mapped to program goals.Qualifications BS in Physics, Physical Science or related (Nuclear Eng such as AFIT, EE, Mathematics or related scientific or engineering field) 10+ years of experience in nuclear, engineering, science, CBRN or WMD R&D programs Demonstrated physical science research and development experience; experience in nuclear research, or electrical engineering. DoD Secret level clearanceDesired MS in related scientific, mathematics or engineering field; EE highly preferred - or PhD and 5 years If EE has worked in nuclear technology and survivability Working knowledge of nuclear weapons effects and wargames or wargaming Knowledge of nuclear weapons delivery systems, nuclear survivability, or related Knowledge of modeling and simulation, software development Experience in nuclear, chemical and biological defense as part of a DoD research and development enterprise: Experience with the DoD acquisition policies Familiarity with scientific program development, planning, programming and reporting
