Job Description: KaylaTek has an exciting career opportunity for a Database Engineer at Joint Base Andrews (JBA), MD. JOB SUMMARY : The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR, missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. The major support areas required are: IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP and National Military Command Center (NMCC). The senior leaders and national defense missions that are supported require that the AFNCR operations never fail, resulting in a fast-paced, challenging, but also rewarding environment. The candidate will bring solid skills as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA. The candidate must have experience troubleshooting data-related issues, writing and tuning SQL queries, and developing/maintaining stored triggers, procedures, and functions. This requires a candidate to be self-motivated and capable to install, configure, administer, support and maintain all systems that support AFDW and Headquarters Air Force Microsoft SQL Enterprise environment. Duties include updating new systems, as well as support on current systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical system patches, responding to all Air Force Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO's) and Maintenance Tasking Order (MTO). PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Production/Development for SQL Server and Windows Servers Build and Manage Windows Operating System (OS) servers Reasonable knowledge of VSphere is required Manage Active Directory (AD) Group policy as needed for SQL installation issues Able to collaborate and work closely with the Cyber Security, Network Monitoring, VMWare and SAN Storage teams Strong written communication skills to manage Systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for deployment/Configuration issues Capable of managing and monitoring enterprise wide Disk/CPU/Memory for all SQL servers Able to apply newly released patches as needed Trouble-shoot OS and resource related issues as needed Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for Windows SQL server 2012/2014/2016 instances Create and Configure SQL Server Availability groups on multiple instances Create and maintain SOPs and other configuration management governance documentation as needed Optimize SQL query for performance as necessary Experience writing and tuning SQL queries to maximize performance in large data volume environments Experience developing SQL and Transact SQL (triggers, procedures, functions, views, etc.) Experience tuning SQL statements and working with "execution plans" Experience researching, gathering, analyzing, and compiling data in support of customer requests Experience extracting and transforming data from databases to generate reports and/or data exports Work with the development team/s to troubleshoot issues as needed Create and maintain Visio diagram for environment as needed Update/Patch for OS and SQL Server as needed Strong analytical and problem solving skills Migrate databases from one instance to another as needed Work Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) effort as needed BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
