Job DescriptionAppearance, Health, and Safety Behavior: Adhere to departmental and governmental safety standards and departmental and organizational personal appearance policies. Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Maintain and repair hospital equipment and furniture to optimize patient care and ensure all documentation of this work is complete, accurate, and returned to the Shop Supervisor. HVAC Systems Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair the HVAC systems throughout the hospital and other off-site facilities to ensure a safe environment that is conducive to patient care. Renovation and Construction: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, accomplish small renovation and construction projects in compliance with county and building codes. Service Call Response: Respond to work order requests for HVAC services and resolve customer complaints to their satisfaction.Job Responsibilities Wear appropriate safety equipment and comply with departmental and OSHA safety standards at all time. Keep personal work spaces and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.Follow hospital infection control/universal precautions at all times.Maintain a clean, neat, hygienic, well-groomed, and professional personal appearance in accordance with departmental and hospital policies at all time. Control and complete all assigned work orders and PM orders to maintain the reliability and integrity of the equipment and furnishings in the hospital.Return all work orders and PM orders completed during the day to the Shop Supervisor at the end of each working day.Control and complete assigned work orders/PM orders upon completion of the requested work and return to the Shop Supervisor at the end of each work day.Inform the Shop Supervisor of needs for supplies and parts necessary to maintain shop responsibilities. Maintain knowledge of the HVAC systems throughout the facilities to include chilled water and stand-alone cooling systems, steam and stand-alone heating systems refrigerators, ice machines, etc. to ensure reliable operation of those systems.Maintain and repair major HVAC equipment found in the Power Plant to minimize any interruption of chilled water to the hospital.Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to include changing filters and drive belts, lubrication, and cleaning of coils .Repair and maintain refrigerators, freezers, ice machines and water fountains to ensure reliable operation.Install HVAC equipment and ductwork throughout the hospital per state and county codes. Respond to emergency calls to correct electrical failures during evening, night, weekend and holiday periods.Plan material needs of a job according to requirements for the job and knowledge of the HVAC trade to maximize efficiency.Evaluate and determine the resources necessary to accomplish HVAC construction requirements for assigned renovation projects.Coordinate work with other trades and the Project Manager. IInstall necessary duct work and controls to meet the HVAC requirements of the renovation project.Keep project sight clean and orderly to eliminate any hazards. Make adjustments to air flow and temperature using the energy control computer.Respond to site of customer requesting HVAC services within 15 minutes of receipt of the work order or immediately after completion of a work order in progress.Evaluate work order request to ascertain resources and materials necessary to resolve the issue to the customer's satisfaction.Accomplish work necessary to provide the requested engineering service if within your capabilities.Inform the charge person of the unit requesting the service of the status of their request.If the service cannot be completed immediately follow-up to ensure the service is completed to the satisfaction of the customer.Additional RequirementsN/AAbout UsInova is Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
