Description: Remote ATA Aerospace, a Joint Venture of ATA and ASRC Federal Space & Defense, is currently seeking multiple mid to senior level Mechanical Engineers to join our team for immediate opening supporting the NASA Godard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. In this role, the candidate will provide Mechanical Engineering at the NASA GSFC. ATA Aerospace is looking for candidates to work on engineering services contracts that directly support the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). ATA Aerospace provides engineering services for the branches within the Mechanical Systems Division within the GSFC Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate (AETD) and also for many flight projects at GSFC. Duties: In this position, ATA Aerospace is seeking to hire engineers to serve as a Mechanical Engineers for a major flight project at the NASA GSFC. Provide mechanical engineering support to the NASA GSFC Mechanical Engineering Branch and for the spacecraft for a for a major satellite spaceflight mission. This will be to support a GSFC in-house spacecraft bus in which GSFC is responsible for the design, manufacturing and integration & test. Engineers are needed to support the spacecraft structure, solar arrays and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) for the spacecraft and observatory. Engineering duties will include, but not be limited to, performing concept trades, concept design and detailed design of spaceflight mechanical systems and their components. The engineer will also provide flight fabrication, assembly and testing services, including the potential development of engineering test units (ETUs). The engineer must have experience in the selection, design and integration & test of mechanical systems, preferably in the aerospace industry. The engineer will coordinate activities with a Product Design Lead (PDL) at GSFC. The engineer must be able to work independently on assignments, but must also be able to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment. This allows collaboration with others (including mechanical designers) on trade studies, analyses, etc. in order to create innovative and highly functional designs, subsystems and systems. The engineer will also participate in concept/peer reviews; design reviews and will need to brief the PDL on technical details and progress of assigned tasks. In this position, the engineer will support flight projects at GSFC. Responsible for the concept, trade studies, design, selection, development, assembly and integration & test of mechanical systems for an in-house spacecraft bus on NASA space flight missions. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution or equivalent. 15 years or greater of relevant work experience in mechanical engineering working with systems, subsystems and components. Design experience is required. Knowledge of spaceflight materials, and assembly techniques a must. Experience designing space flight hardware/systems or equivalent harsh environments is required. Experience designing critical mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) is required for the mechanical engineering role designing MGSE. CAD skills are required. Experience with Pro-Engineer/Creo and Windchill is required. Flight and non-flight drawing experience and GD&T training is required. Experience in the assembly and integration & test is strongly preferred. Experience working on aerospace industry, DoD or NASA spacecraft or in-house payload/instrument design, assembly, integration and test programs is preferred.
