The Mid-Level CNC Router Operator/Wood Fabricator will set-up and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) router within quality and safety guidelines. Expertise is required to engineer, cut, and shape products to fabricate into exhibit and display builds, and assist with completed project installs.

  • Execute design, set-up, operate, and maintain CNC machine with both 2D and 3D technologies utilizing a variety of precision board, wood, and plastic materials.
  • Consult with clients to clarify project features and specs managing work expectation.
  • Provide researched written estimates with documentation of time and materials.
  • Fabricate exhibits and displays that range from tabletop displays to elaborate exhibits.
  • Perform daily clean-up procedures, security checks, and minor administrative work.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma or GED and applicable certification in related fields of study
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Solidworks Professional certification with 3-5 years' experience preferred
  • 4-5 years of CNC Router Table Operator work experience
  • Forklift and Aerial Operator Lift training required within 30 days of hire
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Background check required and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance within 6 months of hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of design software, like Solidworks, CAD, and Aspire and Adobe Creative Suite to create digital proofs and prepare files for cutting and shaping.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret drawings and convert concepts into detailed digital files for both 2D and 3D modeling and production.
  • Expertise in detecting and solving issues from design through various phases of production.
  • Knowledge to properly set-up, adjust settings, tolerances, speeds and operate basic and advanced tools and accessories to perform precision tasks on CNC router table, plasma cutter, and 3D Rapid Prototype printers.
  • Capacity to calibrate and perform maintenance protocols on machinery.
  • Proficient use of hand tools associated with woodworking, metalworking, painting, framing, and installation.
  • Ability to identify methods/tools needed to construct, assemble, and install fabrication builds.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects with time related constraints in fast-paced shop environment.
  • Work as part of a team to meet timeframes, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Possess mechanical skills, dexterity, endurance, and strength.
  • Strong customer service skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to pass a health check and gain approval for wearing of a respirator.
  • Must be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Required to adhere to Chenega Corporation mandate that all employees must be fully vaccinated to COVID-19 by December 8, 2021.
