The Service Department is an integral and vital part of the dealershipand the manner in which it builds openhonesttrusting relationships with customers and other departments is essential to the dealership's success. The Service Manager takes the lead role in managing an efficient and profitable Service Department through expert staffingcustomer retentiontechnician training and quality workmanship while improving productivity and reducing costs in order to meet objectives.ResponsibilitiesDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES" cents Ensuring Service Department growth and profitability" cents Understanding and ensuring compliance with all International and vendor policies and warranty procedures" cents Reviewing open repair orders over 30 days to insure closure and payment" cents Maintaining high quality service repairs to minimize comebacks" cents Ensuring that all work is fairly and equally assigned" cents Understanding and keeping abreast of all federalstate and local regulations that affect service operationssuch as hazardous waste disposalOSHAEPAetc." cents Maintaining a safe and clean work environment in all service areas" cents Holding monthly staff and technician meetings" cents Managing the Service Department staff to ensure they are performing their duties asoutlined and keeping current with manufacturer's vendor training" cents Interviewing potential Service Department employees and terminating if necessary" cents Seeking out and securing new service business" cents Selecting equipment/tools that will improve quality and productivity in the departmentQualificationsIDEAL WORK QUALITIES" cents Must be customer-sensitive and able to listenunderstandand communicate professionally with all customersboth external and internal" cents Must be self-motivated and have good written and verbal communication skills" cents Must be able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting prioritiesand be responsive and flexible to best serve the issue at hand" cents Must have superior problem-solving skills to achieve a win-win solution SKILLTRAININGAND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS" cents Minimum of five years technical/supervision experience in the medium/heavy-duty truck industry" cents Possess a valid driver's license - CDL preferred" cents Experience with Microsoft programs and applications" cents Knowledge of Procede preferred" cents Working knowledge of International trucks and supplier/vendor warranty policiesAdditional InformationThe client provides a clear career path wrapped around an extensive employee recognition program.
