The Company Our client, an opportunistic rapidly growing, boutique alternative asset management firm that specializes in residential and commercial real estate mortgage/debt investments, is seeking a hands-on, high-potential financial professional to join their financial leadership team. The company currently has $2+ Bil AUM and is currently raising its third fund, which is expected to more than double the size of the firm over the next few years. The response by investors has been very positive and thus, transaction volume has increased significantly as assets under management continue to grow. The culture is entrepreneurial, fun, fast-paced, and deadline-driven but is simultaneously collegial and respectful. The senior executive team is cohesive, experienced leaders in their industry and comprised of alumni from several of the top private equity and investment banks in the Washington, DC area. The company is based in downtown DC and is Metro accessible. Position In this newly created position, this person will report directly to the CFO and will act as a financial partner to leaders in the various business lines. This person will manage diverse financial and accounting activities for various funds and will be involved in numerous ad hoc special projects as needed. Key responsibilities include all fund accounting initiatives which would include NAV calculation/reconciliation, review and prepare fund P&L's, financial, investor and management reporting, liquidity/cash management, and key performance indicator (KPI)calculations & reporting. Additionally, the Assistant Fund Controller will respond to investor requests, prepare internal reports, and assist with the valuation process. This is an ideal role for an entrepreneurial high potential financial professional who is interested in taking on a variety of responsibilities and be part of a fast-paced, growing boutique private equity firm in the FinTech space. Candidate Minimum 6+ years of relevant accounting experience within public accounting and/or corporate settings. Public / Corporate mix of experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related required. Active CPA is highly preferred. Experience working in Private Equity or Fund environment required, either in public or corporate. Strong analytical skills and business acumen. Well-versed in Excel. Career-motivated and desire to work in an entrepreneurial setting. Strong communication and presentation skills, and an ability to build strong professional relationships across all levels of an organization and with investors. Highest level of trust, integrity, and commitment. Able to work independently as well as with a team. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple priorities.
