Aon is looking for an Underwriting Specialist II As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions. This role is based in Washington, DC (with a hybrid schedule of 2 in office days, 3 remote). Your impact as an Underwriting Specialist II The Underwriting Specialist II will be responsible for rating, reviewing and underwriting specialty event cancellation insurance coverage (Showstoppers Event Cancellation Insurance Program) that targets the nonprofit trade and professional association community. Job Responsibilities: Providing support to underwriters on tasks and learning rating and underwriting within both the Social Services Property & Casualty Program (SS P&C) and Event Cancellation Insurance Program dedicated to serving the insurance needs of the nonprofit sector. Manage an existing book of event cancellation business focusing on retention targets and new business as well as client and retail agent/broker relationships. Regarding assistance on the SS P&C program, assisting in billing, A/R collection, renewal solicitation and learning P&C insurance rating and underwriting. Maintaining a detailed knowledge of underwriting guidelines, carrier forms, products and competitive landscape and relaying that information. Extensive review and analysis of submissions, gathering data and assessing risk against established underwriting guidelines. Responsible for utilizing rating tools and input in established underwriting systems. Accountable for accurate risk assessment and documentation and executing sound decisions/recommendations while deploying clear communication with the internal team, insurance carrier representatives and retail brokers and clients. Timely and accurate delivery of new and renewal proposals to retail agents/brokers and direct clients/prospects in an effort to hit retention and growth targets. Required Experience: Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task is key Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented Experience with MS Office suite products, proficiency with Excel required 2-3 year's work experience, experience in the commercial Property & Casualty insurance field preferred Will consider recent college graduates Property & Casualty license preferred - must be obtained within six months of hire date Education: Four year college degree in Business, Risk Management or Finance major preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
