Overview GovernmentCIO Media & Research is seeking candidates for a staff writer/researcher to research and write about the topics, issues and key individuals affecting government and defense technology for distribution across a wide array of platforms, including web, video, podcasts, live events and social media. The GovernmentCIO Media & Research staff writer/researcher is someone who is comfortable in a lean environment with a growing and evolving team. The ideal candidate solves problems, actively participates across all media functions, and works hand-in-hand with a variety of team members working to transform government IT. GovernmentCIO Media & Research content delivers perspective and analysis on policy and innovation for public and private-sector IT decision-makers. Topics in this space include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics and more. Responsibilities Develop relationships with government IT leaders and schedule interviews with these leaders Maintain relationships with key media contacts in the government IT space Provide daily media coverage including written articles, video interviews and podcasts in coordination with SMEs and editor Provide research and support for our services teams Attend, cover and network at industry events and panels Moderate panels and recruit speakers to our events Gather, analyze and report on information about federal contract opportunities, and use this information to inform editorial work Assist in social media publishing Compile and deploy newsletters Represent the media team throughout company at large in internal meetings Qualifications Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree Previous reporting experience Excellent time management skills Strong writer and communicator Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Excellent analytics skills and strong attention to detail Work closely with other team members to execute editorial deliverables Preferred Skills and Experience Previous experience, interest or internship in the government IT and defense spaces Experience writing and creating audio or video storytelling We are an equal opportunity employer.
