To help support this desired brand and succeed in achieving our strategic business goals, the company is building an organizational culture of teamwork, engagement, learning, and continuous improvement/innovation.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Electrical Engineering Group Lead will report directly to the Director of Engineering of ATI and will have full responsibility for researching, designing, developing, documenting, coordinating, and leading major new product development and sustaining projects within program objectives and serves as group leader for the electrical engineering team. Applies sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Conducts and supervises assignments generally involving the larger and more important projects. Evaluates progress and results and recommends major changes in procedures or objectives. Operates with considerable latitude within project scope. Works with marketing to refine product requirements.Key responsibilities of the Electrical Engineering Group Lead will include:* Perform all aspects of system engineering for new product development and sustaining, including: concept, architecture, block/functional diagrams, system level schematics, schematic capture, and PCB design. * Serve as group leader for electrical engineering team, including scheduling activities, establishing goals and deadlines, determining individual development needs, mentoring team members and providing performance feedback.* Supervises and manages 3-4 direct engineering reports including feedback and mentoring on both technical and professional issues, performance appraisal and review, and recruitment as necessary.* Team lead responsibilities including task assignment and monitoring, ensuring that schedule, quality, and budget goals are met, and interfacing and coordinating with other teams.* Lead the design and development of embedded OS systems, transitioning to connected devices (WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular modem) with an embedded OS architecture where needed.* Oversee the core ATI technologies, including signal acquisition and processing, calibration methods and processes, and other key areas for our robust laser and photomultiplier-based stand alone and connected instruments.* Provide trouble-shooting and technical evaluation of existing, new, and custom products.* Prepare assembly drawings and instructions for production as well as maintaining electronic drawing files, specifications and other reference materials.* Assemble and test prototypes.* Process change orders, part number requests, and bills of material.* Interface with vendors/suppliers.* Works closely with manufacturing engineering, marketing, purchasing and other cross-functional teams to fulfill departmental objectives.* Write and present reports on team status and performance.* Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTSWell-qualified candidates will possess the following skills, experience, and traits:Minimum Background and Skills Required:* BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field* 10+ years of experience in product development, including 5+ years of experience with embedded operating systems* Experience with measurement instrumentation* Hardware knowledge, surface mount technology, debugging, PCB manufacturing processes* Experience in the design of analog and digital electronic circuits including low noise analog circuits, op-amps, filters, A/D and D/A converters, microprocessors, and power supplies* Development experience with both OS and non-OS based embedded firmware* Experience with wired and wireless communication* Experience with software version control systems as well as bug and issue tracking systems* Familiarity with safety standards and regulations such as CE Marking* Familiarity with stage gate development and/or Agile development* Strong organizational skills* Excellent written & verbal communication skills Additional Background and Skills Preferred:* 10+ years developing products of similar scope and complexity to current products* Experience with designing circuitry and PCB layout* Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems Requirements* Familiarity with Altium and/or Autodesk EAGLE* Familiarity with physics of fluorescence, light polarization and light scattering a plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS* Sedentary Work* Walking* Speaking * Hearing* Visual AcuityCOMPENSATION & BENEFITSWe offer an attractive compensation package in addition to a comprehensive benefits program including health insurance, 401(k) plan with matching and profit sharing, generous paid time off (PTO) policy, life & disability coverage, plus much more!
