THE COMPANY This company has been partnering with the government for several decades. They have a team in the Greater DC Area that is dedicated to developing autonomous systems for defense purposes. They are well established and are looking to bring a strong and experienced leader to the team to serve as an expert in autonomy. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team that come from different backgrounds in autonomy and AI and are passionate about the defense space.THE ROLE - LEAD ROBOTICS ENGINEERAs a Lead Robotics Engineer, you will be leading a team of about ten people at various levels and will be working in an exciting environment where you get to develop state of the art technologyAs a Lead Robotics Engineer, you will a part of the full lifecycle, from prototype to production, for autonomous systems that are being developed for the governmentYou will be mentoring and guiding your team on a variety of projects and serving as an expert within autonomy and AI You will have the opportunity to work cross functionally with other teams to make recommendations and to offer supportYou will have the chance to be hands on with the development of the systems - including algorithm and software development You will be heavily involved in projects for the DoD, along with other branches of the government You will have the opportunity to be creative and present your ideas to the government for innovation grantsYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Due to the nature of the work, you must be a US Citizen and preferably have an active Security Clearance BSc, MSc or PHD in a STEM related field 8 - 10 years of proven experience in autonomy and robotics, preferably in a defense/government-related environment Strong background across a variety of areas within autonomy and artificial intelligence, such as localization, mapping, perception, navigation, computer vision, machine learning and deep learningProven experience working with both C++ and PythonStrong communication skills and prior leadership experience are a must BENEFITS As a Lead Robotics Engineer, you can expect to earn up to $180,000 (depending on experience).
