Anti Tamper Engineer
OVERVIEWThe Anti-Tamper Engineer will render systems security support, to include support of programs, research efforts, and strategic initiatives in the areas of anti-tamper. They will provide engineering and operational expertise applied to studying, designing, developing, implementing, and testing robust and resilient anti-tamper capabilities and solutions for aerial military and/or tactical platforms, systems and avionics. Emphasis is on providing anti-tamper certification and accreditation engineering support that yields effective cybersecurity solutions for Navy Air Combat Platforms; command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I); and related mission and/or tactical systems. The Anti-Tamper Engineer will employ individual experience, technology, tools, and processes that contributes to the test and evaluation (T&E) of the aforementioned assets. They will assist with the development of anti-tamper software and countermeasures, which makes it harder for an attacker to modify the software; this includes development of obfuscation techniques to make reverse-engineering difficult, as well as active tamper-detection techniques, which aim to make a program malfunction or not operate at all if modified by an adversary. Experience with supporting Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) will be a discriminator and enhance the candidate's selection opportunities, but lack of this experience will not disqualify applicants. DUTIES INCLUDE: The following job functions are a basic requirement, but are not limited to these functions and the applicant may be assigned other duties.Apply engineering/technical knowledge and experience to air platform/systems security and program protection concerns within the key areas of cybersecurity, anti-tamper, software assurance, vulnerability detection, tamper risk mitigationParticipate in the development of embedded and networked security solutionsResponsible for leading and executing the cybersecurity efforts for secure, tamper-resistant systems, sub-systems, system-of-systems, ancillary assets and productsActivities will consist of, but are not limited to: designing and developing security subsystems, security subsystem architecture, interface descriptions, RMF assessment and authorization; performing and/or assisting with vulnerability assessments, and defining and developing technical/performance specificationsWork independently and as a member of a team in coordination with other engineers to develop, integrate, test and model air combat platform anti-tamper solutionsProviding technical expertise in a multitude of program protection domainsWork Conditions:Will work and operate in at least a SECRET environment, but may be required to be eligible for access TS/SCI and SAP/SAR materials, as well as perform duties in these environments and/or a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)Office Environment. Most work is accomplished in an office environment, utilizing phone and desktop computer and directly interfacing with employees and customers. The position will include 80% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting 5% walking & 5% standing.Normal work days are Monday thru Friday. Office hours are typically 8am-5pm.Work location is Lexington Park, MD Travel < 10%.Education/Experience/Skills:Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school in fields such as Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science, Engineering Science, or similar. An advanced degree will count for 3 years of experience.Two (2)+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementationExperience in Anti-Tamper (AT) Techniques, implementations, DoD and US Government standardsKnowledge of Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39Experience with Cryptography and cryptographic applicationsMust have CISSP or equivalent certificationApplicant shall meet the requirements of a Junior Professional and a minimum three (3) years' experience in the required task area is required, as well as working in a DoD environmentKnowledge of software and network engineering principles, theories, and concepts and ability to contribute to the development of new and innovative anti-tamper solutionsDemonstrated ability to design solutions that inhibit or mitigate operational impact from threats given constraints of operations, performance, and organizationPerson must have experience in interpreting operational requirements, establishing baselines, and analyzing design trade-offs to balance cost, performance, and schedulesApplicant must demonstrate skills in problem solving, planning/organizing projects, written/oral communication, collaboration and team buildingExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven ability to work in diverse teams as a leader and/or a contributorProven demonstration as a critical thinker, developing solutions to complex problemsCurrent Driver License.
