Summary

This position is located within the U.S. Mint in Washington, D.C. in the IT Department. As an Information Technology Specialist, you will oversee the development of mobile applications, web applications, client/server applications and SharePoint applications/Apps to the United States Mint Directorates utilizing Agile methodologies and project management fundamentals that are in line with established configuration management, security, and application development best practices and standards.

Responsibilities

As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:
  • Assist with IT mobile applications, web applications, client/server applications and SharePoint Apps initiatives, committees, and study efforts pertaining to assigned program area, services, and operations, and provide liaison and pertinent information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the resolution of complex problems and issues impacting the United States mission or programs. Communicate complex information orally and in writing
  • Plan and coordinate studies relating to IT mobile applications, web applications, client/server applications and SharePoint Apps to include testing, adjusting and or improving existing IT mobile and web applications for the United States Mint
  • Coordinate with Security Operations and Security Compliance to ensure applications are developed in a secure manner which meets federally mandated controls
  • Create, update, and review standard operating procedures related to processes connected to the mobile, web applications, client/server applications and SharePoint Apps

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

    Specialized experience for the GS-12 is one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or equivalent, which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:

    - Assisting with application development specializing in mobile applications, web applications, client-server applications, and SharePoint Apps.; AND
    - Adhering to Project Management principles when delivering software systems; AND
    - Developing applications using established coding practices; e.g. W3C and WCAG.

    In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

    1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • All employees are required to wear face masks while on MINT property.

      Due to COVID-19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework (if the position is applicable for telework), even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 days. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the Mint's telework policy.
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
    • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
