Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA-Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This Engineering Technician position is located in the US Army Test and Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Test Center, at Aberdeen Proving Ground MD.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as senior engineering test director for an Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) Directorate, wherein the assigned mission is to conduct test and evaluation of broad Army equipment .
  • Attends meetings, other working groups, and committees.
  • Serves as a working project lead when projects require the simultaneous effort of several personnel.
  • Conducts complex research and development of test projects.
  • Exercises full technical responsibility for all operations assigned; and provides guidance and direction to others on accomplishment of mission objectives.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50?lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • The incumbent is required to possess within 6 months of employment, and maintain, clearance for unaccompanied access to Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AAE).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Conduct test analysis for technical performance of equipment and material; AND 2) Analyze test data to determine operating conditions of equipment and material meet regulatory guidelines; AND 3) Prepare detailed test reports outlining discrepancies during test and make recommendations regarding quality of tested material or equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NJ-03/GS-11.
