Responsibilities

  • Conducts monthly reconciliations of prior years pending documents (and entries), verifying the completeness and accuracy of the accounting data, and taking timely corrective action where required.
  • Prepares monthly financial status reports, including soft fund accounts for current and prior years, reflecting fund availability, obligations, and commitments to date and balance remaining.
  • Utilizes and manipulates many independent systems to create, modify, and reconcile complicated data.
  • Manages the automated system/processes, establishing new accounts, reviewing, and validating linked data within the framework of the account structure and the financial plan system.
  • Reviews expenditure information for numerous reimbursable agreements, prepares Reimbursable Agreement bills quarterly for the Budget Analyst as appropriate, and ensures billings and collections are realized.
  • Working with historical data, evaluates and establishes cost estimates for recurring charges and adjusts as spending occurs.
  • Keeps a documented record of past, current, future lapse and offset for competent balance available discussions

Qualifying experience for GS-6 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-5 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience: Assisting with budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; and operating accounting or financial systems.

Qualifying experience for GS-7 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-6 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience: Performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; operating accounting or financial systems; and preparing monthly financial status reports.

Qualifying experience for GS-8 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-7 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience: Performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; operating accounting or financial systems; Preparing detailed monthly financial status reports; and forecasting cost estimates or budgetary data.

Physical Demands: The work is basically sedentary and requires some walking, standing, and carrying light items such as folders, documents, etc.

Work Environment: Work is usually performed in an office setting adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Some occasional travel via common carrier and/or government vehicles may be required.
