Summary

This position is located in the Veterans Administration (VA), Veterans Health Administration(VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN6), Salem Medical Center (VAMC), Salem, VA in Primary Care Service. This position serves in the Women's Health Clinic section. The applicant will be focused on Urogynecology/Pelvic Floor program functions, and have administrative duties for mammography, cytology and general gynecology and women's health. This is a VACO grant-funded position NTE Two (2) years.

Responsibilities

Major Duties to include but not limited to the following:
  • Receives requests for urogynecology (UroGYN) and pelvic floor therapy through
    Occupational Therapy (OT) and coordinates scheduling patients using VistA
  • Identifies need for and requests build of new clinics within gynecology (GYN) and occupational therapy (OT).
  • Compiles data abstraction and completes report compilation including workload, turn-around time, wait time, physician/OT productivity as well as other program statistics.
  • Ensures each room has the equipment and supplies needed for the clinicians completing the
    medical examinations.
  • Monitors and verifies completion of required reports for timely submission to the Gynecologist, Occupational Therapist, Women's Health Medical Director (WHMD) and the Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM).
  • Assists in requests for scheduling exams in other areas, such as mammography, cytology and general gynecology.
  • Evaluates the success of the Uro/GYN Pelvic Floor program through patient satisfaction forms and symptom reduction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/13/2021.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: knowledge of VISTA scheduling, practical knowledge, developed through on-the-job training or experience to deal with the operations, regulations, principles and peculiarities of the UroGYN/Pelvic Floor programs, and knowledge and skill in the use the computer software such as Word,Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access, VistA, CPRS, VSCC and VHA databases to extract and organize data, produce letters, memoranda, and to prepare a variety of specific working documents and forms such as spreadsheets, database, word processing, desktop publishing,graphics and other similar products OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school. OR,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond.
