Company:We are currently retained by one of Washington, DC's most successful and fastest-growing companies in their search for a bright, high-potential Head of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. The company has been in existence for over 10 years, and they are well-capitalized for continuing their super-growth mode trajectory on a national basis, both organically and through acquisition. For the past five years, the annual revenue has increased by over 50% year over year. The organization has raised over $150M in institutionalized venture funding with rapid, nationwide expansion. Position:This newly created position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, who is an outstanding mentor and has an excellent background. The Head of Financial Reporting will also have valuable exposure and interaction with the management team, key stakeholders, and business unit leaders. This person will be responsible for expanding, further developing, and managing the full reporting and technical accounting function, including US GAAP compliance, preparation/review of financial documents, revenue recognition, creating a framework for company controls, and managing a dynamic team. This person will be considered the "go to" technical accounting expert for the organization, as well as continuing to develop and maintain a strong working relationship with external auditors. Additionally, the Head of Financial Reporting will participate in significant business transactions by providing expertise in areas such as stock-based compensation, lease accounting, and revenue recognition. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a highly successful, complex, entrepreneurial organization.Qualifications:Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience in complex, technical environments. Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Big 4 or Regional Public Accounting through Manager level highly preferred. CPA required.Private/public company mix is preferred. IPO experience is a plus.Strong knowledge of US GAAP and current financial reporting trends.Experience working with external auditors and outside consultants. Ability to work in a cohesive environment with a take-charge senior management team that is interested in growth and driving change.Excellent ability to take initiative and demonstrate ability to work independently, but also collaborate and partner effectively with all levels of an organization.Strong leadership and communication skills along with the ability/enjoyment to manage multiple priorities.
