WHAT IS THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT & SECURITY & SERVICES (FMSS)DIVISION?

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Receives, screens, and answers routine telephone calls and provides receptionist services to visitors.

Establishes, organizes, and maintains files of correspondence, manuals, and other related information, in accordance with IRS regulatory policies and guidance. Compiles records of organizational and workflow charts, staffing levels, mission and function statements.

Reviews all incoming mail and correspondence to determine proper action; and, as appropriate, prepares written responses. Determines deadlines for correspondence needing suspense dates; logs, and maintains correspondence and action item suspense data. Follows-up on suspense dates to ensure timely reply to suspense items, as well as matters resulting from meetings and conferences.

- The salary range indicated in this announcement reflects the minimum locality pay up to maximum locality pay for all duty locations listed. The range will be adjusted for selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages .
- Tour of Duty: Evening Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm various days off Night Shift: 11:00pm - 7:30am various days off - 24/7 365 days a year including weekends and holidays. Shifts are assigned upon hiring.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- A 1-year probationary period is required.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Undergo an income tax verification and review of prior performance/conduct.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies.
- Provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. (Birth certificate showing birth in the U.S; Unexpired U.S. Passport; Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization; or Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS-240))

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

Specialized Experience/Education GS-05
To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing office administrative and technical support doing office functions such as assisting with preparation of correspondence, reports, and various forms and documents using a variety of computer software programs and applications and office equipment; receive and manage customer calls addressing customer inquiries; input and retrieves data to monitor status; managing a calendar and coordinating services between customers and providers for support services; effectively completing daily or recurring assignments.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:

A Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
Or
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Specialized Experience GS 06
To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing office administrative and technical support doing office functions such as preparing correspondence, reports, and various forms and documents using a variety of computer software programs and applications and office equipment; receive and manage customer calls addressing customer inquiries; input and retrieves data to monitor status; with assistance research records, databases and other sources to resolve issues/problems and able to consult with subject matter experts; managing a calendar and coordinating services between customers and providers for support services; effectively completing daily or recurring assignments.

Specialized Experience/Education GS 07
To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing office administrative and technical support and serves as a resource person doing office functions such as preparing correspondence, reports, and various forms and documents using a variety of computer software programs and applications and office equipment; receive and manage customer calls addressing customer inquiries; input and retrieves data to monitor status; independently assembles data/information and prepares, reviews or reconciles reports and charts; research records, databases and other sources to resolve issues/problems and able to consult with subject matter experts; assists the manager and team lead with creating PowerPoint documents; managing a calendar and coordinating services between customers and providers for support services; effectively completing daily or recurring assignments and special projects.
