Summary

The U.S. Secret Service is seeking retired (CSRS/FERS) individuals to support our integrated mission and immediately impart their knowledge and experience to the current workforce. The Officer's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Officer has accomplished this mission through a tradition of honor, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

If re-employed with an OPM approved salary off-set waiver granted to the Secret Service, annuitants are able to earn their full salary and their full annuity without penalty.

Dual Compensation Waiver for Officer (Uniformed Division) :

• Work Full-Time
• Maximum age limit (under 60 at the time of appointment)
• Receive Overtime
• Earn Full Annuity and Full Salary
• Earn Annual Leave and Sick Leave
• Term Appointment up to 4 years
• Individuals appointed before June 30, 2022 may continue their employment until their not-to-exceed date is reached.

The following divisions are approved to reemploy Officer (Uniformed Division):

• Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Counter Surveillance Division approves placement
• Office of Protective Operations, Uniformed Division Branches approves placement

DUTIES:

During the course of their careers, Officers (Uniformed Division) carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:

• Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
• Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
• Conducting surveillance.
• Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Occasional travel - Occasional domestic and foreign travel may be required.

Conditions of Employment:

As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law. If selected, you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation of proof of vaccination by November 22, 2021, or before appointment or onboarding with the agency, if after November 22, 2021. Due to COVID-19, U.S. Secret Service is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 days.

• Submit to a drug test and credit check prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
• Submit to a polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
• Undergo occasional domestic and foreign travel.
• Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside.
• Complete a pre-employment medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized Government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties. You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with the standards and policies of this agency.
• Successfully complete a Mixed Basic training course as applicable.

Qualifications

You qualify for the LE-01 grade level (salary range from $64,610 - $111,144) if you meet the following requirements:

• You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position: Applicant must possess a current valid driver's license. General Medical Requirements:

As determined by the Office of Personnel Management, the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.

Since the duties of this position are exacting and involve the responsibility for the safety of others under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any condition that would hinder full, efficient performance of the duties of this position or that would cause the individual to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others is disqualifying.

There are also specific medical requirements for this position, and any chronic disease or condition affecting the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, digestive, nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, nervous, genitourinary, and other systems that would impair full performance of the duties of the position may also be disqualifying.
