Job Description

The Washington Post is hiring a Senior Recruiting Consultant for the Washington, D.C. office. The Senior Recruiting Consultant will partner with hiring teams to plan recruitment strategies for current openings and strategize for future hiring needs. He/She/They will conduct thorough hiring plans with business leaders to scope position requirements while also advising hiring teams on labor market trends by using data and analytics. The Senior Recruiter will be a brand ambassador, attracting and selecting the best talent to join The Post while strategically. He/She/They will be a talent business partner to executive leaders by anticipating hiring needs, making recommendations of internal and external talent placement, and coaching hiring teams throughout the candidate interview process. The Senior Recruiter will also work with the Talent Acquisition team to continuously enhance candidate experience programs, recommend and test new system functionality and tools, and lead short-term projects that support the HR organizational goals.

How you will make an impact…
  • Build slates of qualified candidates by thoroughly screening candidates, building proactive candidate pipelines, and networking internal and externally to fill a variety of positions across the company, including leadership roles
  • Expertly assess candidates' behavioral competencies, motivational fit, and technical skills through resume reviews and candidate interviews
  • Utilize online social and professional networking sites to connect with potential candidates and attract them to The Post
  • Seamlessly guide candidates and hiring managers throughout the interview process, creating positive experiences for both parties
  • Meet and consult with hiring managers and key internal clients for hiring plan meetings, candidate reviews, and interview calibration sessions
  • Collaborate with Employment Brand Marketing to elevate and highlight open positions as well as careers at The Post
  • Consult with hiring teams and make recommendations for the best possible talent to match the needs of the organization by using data and interview feedback
  • Advise and consult leadership on hiring and other HR related matters
  • Maintain the integrity of the ATS system , recruitment process documents, and security of confidential information
  • Ensures a positive candidate experience at all times through communication and organizational knowledge


Skills and experience you bring…
  • Bachelor's degree from 4-year college preferred
  • Five or more years of full cycle recruiting across multiple functions in a corporate environment; previous experience in a senior level role directly supporting executives' hiring needs is highly preferred
  • Proven results in sourcing qualified candidates for difficult-to-fill or niche positions
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting for professional level and leadership positions across multiple functional areas such as accounting & finance, HR, technology, marketing, sales, etc.
  • Experience with leadership and/or executive recruitment is highly preferred
  • Experience working with Workday ATS highly preferred; or similar applicant tracking system
  • Adept at building relationships & trust with hiring managers and candidates while maintaining recruitment processes and procedures
  • Experience navigating ambiguous situations comfortably and as well as taking calculated risks throughout the recruitment process
  • Proven ability to multi-task and handle numerous client job openings at one time
  • Strong customer service skills including detail orientation & follow up with clients and candidates
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team atmosphere and with a dispersed client group
