Cash Management and Forecasting Senior Associate

Capital One Treasury is looking for a great team player who is highly dependable, intellectually curious and can handle pressure to support the Cash Management and Forecasting team. The key role of the Senior Associate will be to support cash forecasting, monitoring and positioning activities by driving the team's data and reporting infrastructure transformation with the goal of enhancing internal synergies within the Cash Management and Forecasting team by generating operational efficiencies through rational process enhancement initiatives. A successful transformation will enable the team to produce more accurate and timely cash forecasting, positioning, reporting and analyses for senior leadership, regulators, and other stakeholders, all the while ensuring the team's alignment with enterprise-wide technology imperatives.

In this role, the Senior Associate will work closely with fellow members of the Cash Management and Forecasting team to develop tools to analyze and model data for various business needs. The Senior Associate will be expected to possess and contribute working knowledge on data extraction, structuring and manipulation to test and implement the team's ideas. This role might provide the analyst opportunities to explore and leverage machine learning to further enhance the team's forecasting abilities.

As a member of the Cash Management and Forecasting team, the Senior Associate will be in a great position to learn and understand the various funding, investment and reporting mechanics of Capital One at a broad level via daily cash activities of the entire organization. The team interacts with senior leadership on a regular basis to provide guidance on matters related to cash, and often plays a significant role in the successful execution of corporate initiatives and transactions. The Senior Associate will also have opportunities to assist with Treasury system enhancements and enterprise-wide payment initiatives, facilitating intercompany lending, and building relationships with traders and other business partners.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and highly dependable. The candidate will also have relevant experience in data analysis and/or basic programming, possess the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, and have the capacity and desire to learn basic and gradually more complex financial concepts.

Responsibilities:

• Work with enterprise-wide technology teams to source relevant data and manipulate the data to business-user-friendly format for data analysis via appropriate tools

• Work within the Cash team to understand existing processes and collaborate with the team to enhance forecasting capabilities

• Interact with front office traders and other relevant business partners throughout the day as necessary to communicate changes in projected closing cash balances and discrepancies in forecasted settlements

• Partner with internal stakeholders such as the Balance Sheet Management team and Accounting teams to run ad hoc analyses and/or explain changes in cash and/or forecasts

• Support new cash management processes and requirements as necessary to comply with changing regulations

• Support cash management integration for acquired businesses and new business activities

• Understand the intricacies of the Federal Reserve Payment system, funds settlement and cash management

• Understand and support the development of daily cash positions which guide daily funding decisions and prevent utilization of the Fed Discount Window

• Synthesize and communicate complex information to a non-technical audience

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year experience with SQL querying
  • Basic Statistics or Programming skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Statistics, Math, Physical Sciences, or Computer Science
  • Experience with Cash Forecasting or Cash Management functions
  • 1+ year experience with Python and/or R
  • Knowledge of machine learning principles
