Sr. Director of Software Engineering

Are you excited by the challenge of solving large-scale FinTech problems through innovative engineering and product management? Do you enjoy solving complex challenges with cloud native technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative, and creative environment? We're looking for an influential engineering leader to provide strategic direction on initiatives with significant impact to the entire engineering organization across Capital One. This role provides a considerable opportunity for ingenuity, as this individual will work as a key leader of an exceptionally talented team, to deliver cutting edge innovation at a massive scale.

The Cloud Safety mission is focused on enabling teams across the company to innovate, safely, leveraging the latest native services on the cloud. This leader will own our cloud controls platform and the developer community user experience that it provides. They will be leading the way to evolve our strategic approach to governance and controls on the cloud, embracing them as a way to protect our customers and associates while also creating freedom for our development organization. Our goal is to make the guardrails strong, resilient, and transparent, and to continue to lead the industry in modern approaches to governance in a highly-regulated environment. The mission will offer visibility and facilitation to the organization as it adopts new cloud services, builds and operates controls, and understands cost dynamics. We believe fundamentally that cloud safety comes through automation and sustainable, technology-oriented solutions. This is a big, bold, and challenging push at the heart of our overall tech strategy.

We are looking for an independent thinker who makes convincing, evidence-based decisions. • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of team solutions
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology groups, and mentor other members of the engineering community
