Communications Sr. Manager, Chief of Staff

We're looking for an amazing communications leader to join our team and create comprehensive communications strategies for leaders within the Retail Bank & Premium Card Products businesses. Our team is responsible for developing and implementing internal communications that connect the President of Retail Bank & Premium Card Products, her leaders and her more than 8,500 associates to the bold business goals ahead. Our work directly supports business programs and initiatives and helps cultivate the best associate experience ever. By joining our team, you'll be expected to push the envelope, find a better way and strive to do the extraordinary.

We're a relatively new team with incredible promise. We're on a journey to know our associates better, connect leaders in new ways and create the most meaningful communications in an effort to increase associate engagement and drive value for our businesses. We're looking for a team player to help us chart that course. This leadership role offers the opportunity to be a part of exciting, transforming space within Capital One and provide undeniable value to growing businesses.

You'll have the opportunity to build and execute the communications strategy that strengthens belief in and commitment to our Bank and Card businesses. You'll actively measure our channels for effectiveness and develop content based on business strategies. Additionally, you'll support large scale projects, events and internal campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with senior executives, Communications team, members of Human Resources and key department leaders to develop and execute on highly innovative internal communications strategies to inspire, inform and educate our team.
  • Execute a steady drumbeat of internal storytelling through engaging experiences including executive gatherings, all-associate meetings, digital/video, blogs, articles, and special events.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create and deliver on a diversity, inclusion, and belonging communications strategy
  • Evaluate performance for communications, based on real-time metrics and other leading key performance indicators; recommending refinements to communications strategies, messaging and new feedback mechanisms, as needed, based on ongoing assessments.
  • Proactively build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across a range of levels, business functions and geographies.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong business acumen and customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships.
  • Excellent writing and story-telling skills with sound editorial judgment.
  • The ability to distill complex content into clear, concise and engaging communications.
  • Experience managing issues, crisis communications and organizational change communications.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong business acumen and executive presence with a history of cultivating trusting relationships with executive leaders.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing, activities and complex projects to high quality conclusion, on-time, and within budget.
  • Deep focus and ability to pay painstaking attention to detail and delivery against timelines.
  • Ability to exercise strong judgment within narrow time-frames.
  • Highly motivated - willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done, even in situations where the work is outside of the scope of your respective role.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience as a communications specialist
  • At least 1 year of experience creating communication content on behalf of c-suite executives
  • At least 1 year of experience implementing business communication and organizational change management strategies, plans and deliverables.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English or journalism
  • 2+ year of experience in financial services, technology or other highly regulated industry
  • 1+ year of project management experience
  • 1+ year of experience managing issues and organizational change communications
  • Demonstrated success developing creative and effective approaches to problem solving
  • Proven experience in building relationships with senior management and executives
