Product Management

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding opportunities to create value for the business, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. Do you dream of well-designed and intuitive products and customer experiences? Do you want to be the one who introduces change to help tens of millions of customers make smarter financial choices? Do you want to change the way people manage their money? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then product management at Capital One may be a fit for you.

Capital One's Card Referrals team is defining the roadmap that enables one of the newest and fastest growing Card acquisitions channels and favorite customer card features. The feature launched in 2019 and the team has spent the last two years scaling the channel across Card. As the channel continues to grow and expand, we are investing in creating best-in-class infrastructure and industry leading customer experience.

The Sr. Associate Product Manager for the Card Referrals team plays a critical role in delivering on our agenda, unlocking value for the business through creating and implementing technical solutions.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative and have a passion for solving problems. You will leverage your understanding of the business and technology, to find creative and targeted solutions for our customers,, as you develop new capabilities and optimize existing ones on our referral platform. You'll need to be equally comfortable navigating the development with our tech partners as you are communicating user experience, operational fulfillment, and risk with our business partners. The successful candidate will flex between playing the Product Manager "exploration" role and the Product Owner "execution" role. You will also have full Product Owner authority for a critical agile team to bring this UX to life, co-located with the team(s).

In this role you will be responsible for the following:
  • Work in a hands-on, collaborative environment with top engineers, analysts and designers to build breakthrough experiences and products
  • Participate in Agile rituals to establish rhythm for the team, promote ongoing communication, and iterative development and refinement of the team's roadmap
  • Regularly and systematically use data to uncover opportunities, track product performance, and drive decision making
  • Work closely with business partners across the enterprise to ensure your product functionally solves their needs, in the agreed upon timelines for implementation
  • Partner with other PdMs and POs in performing prioritization of work based on product vision and use cases presented from across the enterprise

  • Sit embedded with the tech team, working with them to resolve doubts and prioritize, negotiate, and remove blockers to orchestrate successful launch or optimization cycle
  • Communicating across the cross-functional team and on behalf of the team to stakeholders and executives
  • Serve as subject matter expert, contributing practitioner, and thought leader

You might be a good fit if you are:
  • Intellectually Curious. You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea or follow an email chain for weeks to find someone with an answer. You're comfortable with ambiguity, a hunger to learn and a seeker of new challenges
  • A Communicator & Influencer. You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of your audience and can rally associates to work with you to achieve the team's goals
  • A Do-er. You're biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around roadblocks and stay focused on your goals. You're well organized, capable of delivering on multiple workstreams simultaneously and able to prioritize your work
  • Passionate & Customer Focused. You care about growing others and bringing them together around what's possible. You get a thrill from the journey of building and shipping products, and you have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs
  • A Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when the time comes to ask for help
  • A Team Player. You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You have the ability to put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships
