Senior Manager, C&O Mission Control

As a Senior Project Manager at Capital One, you will drive strategy and execute on high priority projects for the company. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line. We're looking not only for someone that can tackle what we can see - we need someone with the foresight to peek around corners and come up with new ideas to stop problems before they start. We are inherently entrepreneurial which means we are never without multiple projects.
  • You're able to communicate and translate language across different audiences. We work with varying levels of leadership, responsibilities, departments, and industries. It's imperative you know your audience and can wear many conversational hats.
  • You're digitally savvy. You check CNN during big tech releases. You know more than copy and paste keyboard shortcuts.
  • You're a team player. 5 o'clock watchers need not apply. We balance our workloads and have a great time with each other, however we have lofty goals that can't tell time. "That's not my job" is not in our vocabulary. We are always in each other's corner. We strive for a delicate balance of play, purpose and home life fulfillment.
  • You plan ahead . We want you to be able to see what's coming our way while being flexible and adaptive. We only look backwards to learn; otherwise we are looking to the future. Our decisions are rooted in strategic analysis with a flavor for innovation.

  • An Understanding of regulation and operational risk


General Responsibilities:
  • Coaching, developing and leading a small team.
  • Leading and managing the Branch & Cafe Crisis Management program to inform and influence outcomes.
  • Designing, developing, and managing program communications in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements.
  • Leading moderate to large complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction to projects, peers, and direct reports.
  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
  • Partnering cross-functionally with customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment
  • Designing, developing, and managing project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Ensuring projects are being documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time.
  • Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 Years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 Years of People Management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters / MBA degree
  • At least 8 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 5 years of People Management experience
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
