The Appian Strategy Office (ASO) partners with senior leadership to formulate, implement, and monitor the success of Appian's strategy. The team analyzes the company's landscape and formulates strategy in a fact-based manner. Analysts serve as change agents that facilitate the execution of strategy with Appian's business units. The team's ultimate goal is to grow and improve Appian's business.

The Associate Strategy Analyst serves as a member of the Appian Strategy Office. They will support the CEO, Chief of Staff, and Strategy Team in formulating, articulating, and monitoring Appian's strategy. The Associate Strategy Analyst focuses on growing the company with data-backed decisions and facilitating the implementation of strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Combine creative thinking, analytics, and a sophisticated understanding of our business to:
  • Structure and execute strategic initiatives
  • Gather and synthesize relevant data, conduct quantitative and qualitative research, lead analyses, and present final recommendations that will drive short- and long-term growth.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, including new business models and initiatives.
  • Create performance models that account for plausible scenarios and illustrate limitations of tolerable risks.
  • Ensure the stability and reliability of data sources and reporting systems processes, the accuracy of reports, analytical soundness, and timely delivery of work products.
  • Help prioritize work based on strategic importance, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of financial and business performance metrics.
  • Work closely with finance and business lines leaders to measure the impact of initiatives.
  • Review historical performance and create strategic recommendations.
  • Track industry, competitor, and consumer behavior trends that can impact Appian.

Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of related experience within corporate strategy
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Information Technology, Business, or equivalent analytical discipline
  • Demonstrated data-driven, analytical, attention-to-detail mindset
  • Demonstrated self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the standard thinking with new ideas and solutions
  • Must have strong decision-making skills and the determination to see projects through to impact
  • Strong people skills and ability to develop respect and trust with others
  • Experience with Tableau, Excel, SQL, or other analytical software
  • Experience in the software or information technology industry preferred
