The industry, based in the Northern Virginia-DC Capital region, employs approximately 1 in every 6 professionals in the area, and has some 10,000 Mason alumni working in it. With School of Business and other Mason faculty, the Center is conducting activities in research, education and training, and collaboration to achieve this vision. Being known for having a distinctive academic competency in the business of government and government contracting will be a competitive advantage for Mason's School of Business and helps to create a more efficient and effective market for the public good.About the Position:The Research Associate will conduct research, proposal writing, and program support to help the Center's research projects, publications, and events across the government contracting community. The Center intends to hire multiple candidates depending on the outcome of submitted proposals under consideration by DoD. The term is 12 months with the opportunity for renewal. This is a full-time position and is fully funded from external foundation funding and the position is expressly contingent upon the continuation of such foundation funding.Responsibilities:Conducting background research and support for Center research projects;Supporting the development and execution of Center in-person and virtual events;Playing a central role in the organization, writing, and support of proposals or research grants to help grow the research portfolio of the Center;Managing qualitative research data;Assisting with statistical analyses of financial and operational data related to government contractors and government contracting;Assisting with the writing of project reports and briefings; Self-organization;Other duties, as assigned. Required Qualifications:Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Business, Management, Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, or Economics; or demonstrable experience with research that exhibits that mastery; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience; Demonstrable understanding of government contracting as a business and public procurement as a governmental function; Skill with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams. Preferred Qualifications:Research experience in government contracting as a business or public procurement as a governmental function;Publications in government contracting trade publications or journals.
