The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing all phases of cost accounting to provide accurate information for financial reporting and support of the Company"s manufacturing processes. This position is a key part of the month-end close process and is responsible for financial analysis, reporting and review of standard and non-standard journal entries. The Senior Cost Accountant will analyze inventory activity, and recommend and implement process and system improvements as required. The Senior Cost Accountant will work with the Accounting Manager and the Business Unit Controller to serve as a point of contact between the business and operational leaders and the Finance Department. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Manage all daily; weekly and monthly plant accounting, analysis and reporting and coordinate Month-End inventory costing and valuation, cycle counting, reserves and work order close processes. Provide effective analysis and understanding of COGS actual results, budget development and variance reporting to senior management by developing insightful reporting. Present and assist Business Unit Leaders in understanding P/L, divisional performance, cost drivers, and cost forecasts. Lead financial portion of business reviews for designated business units Review of month-end cost accounting journal entries and closing activities for inventory accounts. Maintain a review of standard cost system, including bill of materials, product routings. Maintain standard unit costs. Maintain COGS functions including inventory transactions, gross margin analysis, and variances. Assist in preparing capital approval forms, managing fixed assets by maintaining detailed fixed asset ledgers, roll forwards, depreciation/amortization schedules, tracking asset transfers and disposals, and asset tagging.
