JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary The Senior Director/Counsel, Government Affairs will be responsible for coordinating federal government affairs efforts in support of NBCUniversal's business interests. The individual will work closely with internal executives, key legislators and regulators, associations, and advocacy groups to advance the policy objectives of NBCUniversal. The individual will report to the Head of Federal Government Affairs, NBCUniversal. Job Description Job Description Advocate for NBCUniversal's position on the Hill with Members of Congress and staff. Maintain and develop relationships with Congressional Members and staff, with a specific focus on telecommunications/media policy and intellectual property issues. Assist in the preparation of executive briefing materials for Congressional testimony, public policy engagements, and Hill meetings. Attend Congressional hearings and events. Maintain and develop relationships with business community, third party, and academic-related contacts. Identify and respond to emerging legislation and regulation affecting the company. Work closely with Comcast and NBCUniversal Government Affairs and Corporate Communications to ensure consistency of messaging in regulatory, legislative, and policy advocacy. Work closely with various trade associations and industry coalitions. Prepare detailed memos for team members and company executives. Provide oversight and direction to consultants. Represent company at Congressional meetings, fundraisers, PAC events, events with third party groups, and other events as needed. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and PAC budget. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 5-7 years of Capitol Hill, government affairs or related lobbying/advocacy experience. Proven track record of working effectively with congressional offices and advocacy organizations. Conversant in telecommunications/media policy issues and be able to assess, track and advise on developing issues. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high quality work product. Excellent research, communications, and writing skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
