Director, Government Affairs in WASHINGTON , District Of Columbia United States, District of Columbia, Washington 12-Jul-2021 Ref #: 7984 How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities) The Director, Government Affairs must be a strategic, proactive advocate with a proven track record of understanding and articulating complicated policy issues before the federal, executive and legislative branches of government. This leader will have responsibility for policy development and advocacy before the United States Senate, House of Representatives and the White House and cabinet-level agencies. The successful candidate must have legislative and political experience, and the ability to successfully develop and identify the company's federal policy priorities by working collaboratively with the company's business units and functions. The successful candidate must possess significant political acumen and have established relationships with Members of Congress and Congressional staff; contacts within the Senate Commerce Committee, House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Senate and House Appropriations Committees, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, House Energy and Commerce Committee and Congressional Leadership are a plus. This leader must also have direct experience in the federal legislative process. A familiarity with aviation and transportation policy issues, and/or navigating ESG policy issues in coordination with Legal and Investor Relations functions in a publicly trading company is a plus. The Director - Government Affairs will be charged with developing, preserving and enhancing Delta's relationships on Capitol Hill, relevant trade associations, and think tanks. The selected individual will work regularly with senior executives throughout the company to develop a sound legislative strategy in line with the company's objectives. A top candidate will have a history of working well in teams and thriving in a collaborative environment that encourages working together towards common goals. What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) The successful candidate will have experience in the government arena as a policy and legislative affairs professional with a major company, trade association, federal department or agency, or as a long-term Congressional staffer.
