The transportation services division is comprised of 60+ operations and over 400 shuttle buses serving clients and customers within the university, airport, healthcare, municipal and commercial service lines at LAZ. This division has doubled in size over the past 3 years and is on target for continued growth. This position can be based in any city in which LAZ operates near a major airport. The Spirit of the Position: The Vice President, Transportation leads the leads the design, development, and execution of business strategies nationally across the transportation services division. Primary Responsibilities : Develop a strategic business plan and direction for the transportation services division with approval from the Senior Vice President team Lead, direct, and develop DOT Compliance and Safety teams to accomplish annual and periodic goals/initiatives, while embodying and using LAZ Parking's culture as a guideline Responsible for maintaining and improving safety and safe driving behaviors in all transportation operations through driver and leader training as well as risk identification and mitigation Responsible for the transportation services division business development efforts including proposals, presentations, and transitions for new locations Creates proposals for new business opportunities and supports region/other leaders if/as needed with responding to RFPs Collaborates with Regional Vice Presidents to enhance, expand and develop transportation related relationships Develops new relationships and continually maintains and strengthens current relationships/pipeline for strong business retention Ensuring that increased revenue, managed expenses, and customer satisfaction is maximized by maintaining the highest level of service thresholds and initiatives that are aligned with the expectations of our various clients Responsible for the oversight of the annual budget preparation and presentation process for the transportation services division Understand, implement, and deliver all requirements that are outlined within the contractual agreements between LAZ Parking and our clients Source and negotiate pricing for new and used vehicle inventory May be asked to attend tradeshows, must have experience with transportation related associations, and LAZ sponsored events in support of the transportation portfolio Implement and complete other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise from the operation of the Transportation Services division Additional related duties as assigned Service Line Development Identifies service product lines that are mutually beneficial for LAZ and the transportation industry to grow the services LAZ can offer to clients Selects and partners with internal and external people/companies/consultants to create a service line through creation of training, SOP's, and materials with support of the Executive Vice President leading the transportation services line Develops internal and external strategies to implement new transportation service lines Supports the development of marketing materials to market any new service lines Portfolio Management and Operations Manages regional accounts to maintain and grow existing relationships Drives a strong national brand for transportation services Maintains a minimum retention rate (above 90%) across the portfolio Drives the implementation of projects, programs and initiatives that may arise as needed to maintain (and maximize) client relationships Drives the use of data and benchmarking metrics for the portfolio to improve profitability and results Works with operations teams to ensure solutions are delivered to support internal and external client needs Liaises between executives/partners and leadership teams to drive company strategy. Innovates to assist in the development of new technology solutions Travel: 40% of time travelling to locations across the region in pursuit of new business and supporting existing business Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Experience: 15+ years in sales, operations leadership with a business development focus within the transportation services and/or parking industry with a focus on transportation services 10+ years in a senior managerial role Public transit and/or large scale private transportation experience is highly preferred Skills: Comprehensive leadership skills encompassing realistic target development, ownership and accountability mindset, key metrics use and results delivery Tenacious business development, negotiation, and sales skills to retain and grow existing business portfolio Sophisticated financial ability for insightful operations analysis and pro forma development Ability to seek improvement and create an environment of idea-sharing and creative problem-solving Strong customer service and client management skills and abilities Ability to be approachable and facilitate coaching conversations with employees and managers Ability to mitigate and lead others to overcome challenges (Never Ever Give Up Attitude) Ability to encourage open expression of ideas and opinions Excellent teambuilding and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and multi-task Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization and with clients Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness Physical Demands: Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc. Ability to lift, push and pull at least 25 pounds Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
