Job Summary: 
Westat has an immediate opening for a Compensation Specialist.  In this role you will use your proven analytical skills in combination with your strong organization and communication skills to collaborate with team members and internal clients.  Your ability to navigate multiple tasks under tight deadlines will be a key part of this role. In addition, the Compensation Specialist will have the opportunity to get involved in Benefits Administration.

Job Responsibilities: 
•    Evaluate job descriptions and determine pay grades for various positions.
•    Collect market data using PayFactors/PayScale and other sources.
•    Develop and/or update job descriptions.
•    Review job descriptions to ensure proper FLSA and EEO classifications. 
•    Assist with mid-year/annual compensation tasks.
•    Work closely with the Compensation, Recruiting and Benefits teams with miscellaneous projects.
•    Other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in HR/Compensation.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced MS Excel skills with Lookups and Pivot tables functions. 

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Understanding of compensation practices and the knowledge and ability to interpret federal, state and local labor laws. 
•    Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
•    Possess strong analytical skills with attention to detail, and able to handle multiple tasks. 
•    Experience in employee benefits is a plus.
